Obsessed with these {sunhats}

One of my favorite summer accessories? Hats.
I wouldn't necessarily call myself a hat person, but I think that when worn correctly they can make a great outfit even better. When I went to Charleston, I wore a sunhat just about every day!

I found a really cute sunhat online at Sole Society that also comes in black! Obsessed.

Eating in ATL {Across the Street}

    The other week, my best friend Shayla and I ventured out of Midtown to an area of Atlanta called the Old 4th Ward. I really love this area and all of the fun restaurants & hangout spots!

I had the goat cheese enchiladas!
We decided to eat at Across the Street because it looked like a cool and creative restaurant. And we were pleasantly surprised to find out it was a Mexican restaurant that focuses on serving healthy food, yum!

Yes, the food is really really great! But the atmosphere (including their patio that's right next to a park and other pretty views) is also something people should experience.

It's such a perfect summer spot for after class/work or on the weekends! Enjoy!

Eating clean for rookies {part 2}

My first post on eating clean has gotten close to 10,000 views so I thought I'd do a follow up post!

I love eating clean for at least one meal a day, and I've increased to eating clean for two meals on some days. It honestly just feels better (physically and mentally).

And, eating clean can be fun and colorful! Take a look at some meals I've had recently:

Dessert! Low fat or fat free yogurt with fruit - because even healthy eaters crave sweets

Fruit prepped for the week for easy snacking and packing.
Also have beans ready for Iron throughout the week

Strawberries & blueberries = my favorite fruit combo

Morning shakes are easy, healthy, and delicious. Pick your favorite fruit and just add ice

Salad from the salad bar in the cafeteria. The dressing is not healthy,
but I got in the veggies I needed for that meal

Brussel sprouts are usually not tastey, but mine are so good! Just add olive oil, pepper, fresh garlic, and low fat cheese or yogurt to add some flavor.

Also made some broccoli in olive oil and lemon juice

Brussel sprouts packed as snacks

Typical snack - yogurt with fruit and prepped fruit. Great to eat in between meals!

With the squat challenge and water drinking challenge ending a few days ago, I've lost 9 pounds since starting all of this about a month ago. But more importantly, I've toned up and I'm proud of the healthy foods I've started eating more of.

Tips from professionals on eating healthy:
Have a partner/friend to eat healthy with you and hold each other accountable
Try to eat out as little as possible
Create a diet/eating plan that works for your lifestyle
Learn more about nutrition facts
Portion control can be just as important as what you're eating
Keep low calorie snacks with you if you get hungry in between meals
Celebrate your success, no matter how small

July will be dedicated to even more clean eating and a different workout challenge every week so stay tuned :)

Natural Hair Salons in ATL {Too Groovy Salon}

My hair after visiting Too Groovy Salon
I'm excited to share a great hair salon in Atlanta, Too Groovy Salon!
The first time I went, I didn't tell them I was blogging about the salon and just took mental notes of the service, the stylists, and how my hair was treated.

I really enjoyed my experience!

When you go, tell them that Vett Vandiver sent you! And, first time clients get $10 off!

So I went back again, this time to take photos and actual notes for this post.

The salon is located in Midtown and there's plenty of free street parking & a nearby garage (great!)

The salon is neat, organized, has a fun layout, and I was greeted upon entering.

They have coffee or tea for you to drink while you wait. The first time I went I had to wait about 10 minutes for my stylist, but the second time I was serviced almost immediately.

I got a wash and style for my natural hair. I also got the hydration treatment (sitting under this while my hair gets some much needed moisture).

Then I moved to the chair for styling by Tehira. She was fantastic and also gave me some healthy hair tips to help my hair grow better.

Some shots of my style. I got my layers feathered, fun!

And below are photos from the first time I went to Too Groovy Salon!

I definitely recommend them for all types of styles for transitioning and relaxed women looking for stylists in Atlanta! I'm excited about how much my hair has grown since my big chop about two and a half years ago!

Tell them RCSOATL sent you :)

Obsessed with these {polka dot pants}

Yellow is my favorite color. I also like different shades of yellow like...gold with white polka dots! When I saw these pants on Pinterest, it was an instant repin because these are my school colors and one of my favorite color combinations.

I love the material, the colors, the design of the pants, and the pattern.

It's like they were made just for me.

I think they'll be great for work and for Georgia Tech events. Can't wait!

You can order them here, and check out other cute items too!
Happy Sunday :)
