Recent thoughts and lessons learned

I've been doing a lot of thinking recently. That's my thinking face (above). And when I have tons of thoughts racing through my head, I have to get them out or I will go crazy. I typically write them down in a secret place, but I'm sharing some today.

Some of my recent thoughts and lessons learned

A lot of people my age and older don't know what they want to do with their lives…but I think that's OK. It's nice to know we're all on this crazy journey together.

Every opportunity, regardless of how it seems at the time, is a blessing and chance to learn more about yourself.

The older you get, the more difficult it gets to meet new people and have meaningful interactions.

One-sided relationships do not work and aren't fair to the person putting forth the effort.

Family is one of the greatest aspects of life. "Family" does not always mean blood relatives, but the people who have been there for you and will always be there for you.

The people who cheat and cut corners to get ahead will regret it in the long run.

Grad school is actually very similar to undergrad.

Atlanta weather is really bizarre.

People make time for what and who they choose to make time for.

I love public policy and politics.

Getting through a challenging/busy week is more rewarding than getting through an average week.

We all need a support system.

Life is short and we should appreciate the ones we love every single day.

Everyone has insecurities and weaknesses.

Staying in on Friday nights feels good.

Saving time in my schedule for (me) to do nothing is important.

Our words can really affect people just like our actions can really affect people.

My life has changed so much in a year, and I'm thankful for that.

Lastly, venting is sometimes necessary and therapeutic.

Have you had any thoughts/realizations recently?

  1. OMG this is so true!
I can relate to most of them!!!!
Lately I ve been asking myself why I stay in every single Friday now!!!lol
    Thanks for sharing.

  2. Wow Vett, I have been thinking of the same things... this is kind of giving me the chills as yours is the fourth blog writing about light bulb moments and realizations... You are incredibly inspirational, these reflections are all true. Oh and I agree with the gratitude journal, it has helped me in the short couple of weeks I have been writing in it. I was inspired to start through bloggers, now those a ha moments are coming a lot more quicker. Have a really great week and I agree staying home Friday is great :)

  3. "Atlanta weather is really bizarre." LOL I live in Alabama, and I could not agree more with that statement. Definitely true.

  4. Love these! I'm all about staying in on Friday nights and getting through busy/tough weeks as well. :)

  5. Good learns, we don't know netflix.

  6. I literally love this list so much! I agree with basically everything you said! It's kind of sad that once we leave college it becomes harder to meet new people... it's definitely not my favorite part of growing up.

  7. A lot of those are my thoughts too! Comparison is definitely one I struggle with! Life is so much easier when you walk on the path God laid out for your instead of comparing your journey to everyone else. And YES, Fridays are so much fun when spent inside with Netflix or just relaxing! :)

  8. Wow, we are on the same page when it comes to so many important things! I especially like your bit about one sided relationships. I've learned that lesson recently and it was a tough one...better now than later ;) Looking forward to reading more posts!

  9. Love reading through your thoughts Vett. You're on the right track girl! It's all a part of learning and growing. Fab post.

  10. You wrote my list for me! I especially love "Lastly, venting is sometimes necessary and therapeutic."

    Thanks for sharing Vett!

  11. How did I miss this post?! These are all really great points..err thoughts. I especially love "I cannot compare myself to other people or my success to other people's success." and that one about family. I say it all the time.
