In Case of An Emergency {tips & digits}

Yesterday was not a great day for Atlanta news. I was devastated to hear about the multiple tragic incidents that occurred in the Atlanta area, especially since so many young people were involved.

Although we may not be able to prevent every crime and incident, there are steps that we can take to keep ourselves safer in our city and to quickly react if something does happen.

Remember that if you see something out of the ordinary, let the police know ASAP.

ATL Parking Lot Safety Tips {per City of Atlanta Police Department}

  • Be aware of your surroundings and walk with purpose
  • Keep a free hand
  • Walk in the middle of aisles and ramps where the lighting is better
  • Keep a whistle/alarm/spray on your key chain - be sure you know how to properly use them
  • Carry your cell phone for use in an emergency (have emergency numbers easily accessible), but do not be distracted by your phone
  • As you approach your car, check to make sure there is no one around the vehicle or inside
  • If a driver pulls up asking for directions, do not move close to the car
  • When approaching your car/home, have your key out and ready so you can enter without delay or use it to protect yourself if necessary
  • If you think you are being followed while driving, avoid going to your house. Call the police as you drive to a secure location
  • As soon as you get into your car, lock the doors and get going - avoid the idle time in your car where someone could attack
