Eating in ATL {cafe lily}

So technically, this restaurant isn't  in Atlanta -- it's a little outside of the city limits in Decatur, GA. But it's close enough! After church on Jade's birthday, we went to Cafe Lily for brunch and it was such a fun experience. I'm so happy Jade picked this spot for her birthday brunch because none of us had been there before!

First of all, Downtown Decatur is absolutely adorable! I'm planning to go back on a (warmer) day and just walk around.

We all had trouble deciding on our meals because everything sounded so yummy! They have both southern and international breakfast/brunch options, and everyone really loved what they ordered.

I got the salmon burger with salad and the Italian version of grits - yum!

Fancier version of grilled cheese with almonds :)

The perfect brunch on a birthday Sunday! I definitely recommend them next time you're in the area :)

Art in ATL {alliance theatre}

Art is good. I'm a liberal arts major so I'm a little biased, but I think pretty much everyone enjoys some form of art (music, film, television, performing arts, etc). I loved seeing Phantom of the Opera on Broadway when I visited NYC last month! I also saw a show at the Alliance Theatre at the Woodruff last month called "Good People."

The show was hilarious, the actors were fantastic, and the tickets were really well-priced.

We have so many opportunities for performing arts here in Atlanta, so definitely take advantage of them!

Happy birthday roomie {Jade}

Happy Birthday, Jade!!!!!!

It's my roommate/cousin/one of my best friend's birthday!!!!
Happy birthday to one of the funniest, most thoughtful, brilliant and beautiful people that I've ever met! I'm so proud of the growth you've experienced in the past year and I hope that 23 is an even better year for you. I'm sooooo grateful to have you not only as a friend but the person I share a living space with. Our funniest and most hysterical times are in our apartment and I wouldn't trade those moments for anything. I love you dearly and I hope this birthday weekend has been incredible for you.

 I love birthdays! :)

Craving some spring

It's freezingggggg today! I'm craving some Spring weather and everything that comes with it! I made a new cover photo inspired by the Lilly Pulitzer Spring 2013 patterns!

Happy Friday! <3

Eating in ATL {cafe sunflower}

OK y'all, I told you how I ate at a vegetarian restaurant for the first time during February and I wasn't lying! I went to eat with some friends from one of my organizations and two of them are vegetarians so they suggested Cafe Sunflower in Buckhead. I was super skeptical because I eat meat on a pretty regular basis - no offense to all of the vegetarians out there, it's just what I was raised to eat.

However, I was willing to try something new and my friends said this place was great. IT. WAS. Cafe Sunflower is an award-winning restaurant, and now I know why! I'm still not exactly  sure what all I was eating, but I was so impressed that everything on my plate was vegetarian cuisine.

I ordered a lasagna made from eggplant and other veggies and it was really really good.

My point is, I recommend this restaurant for committed vegetarians and those who also sometimes get their protein from other sources. I'm excited to go back and try something else!

*FYI: They are closed on Sundays*

 The decorations are so eclectic and modern - I want them for my room!

Enjoy <3!

Results of FebNEWruary

At the beginning of the month I did a post about how I'd try new things in February and how it would be the month of "newness" (FebNEWruary) - and it has been!

Here are some new/different things I've done this month!

I love Black History Month! I've taken some time to learn more
about my history -- I'm taking a great
course on African American history at Tech
that's already taught me so much!
Usually, I wear flats or boots (cowgirl boots), but I've been
adventurous this month rocking some HIGH heels!
Cooking breakfast for myself is a change (and one of my realistic goals for 2013) -
 typically it's just coffee or I'll get brunch from a restaurant.
Took MARTA to and from the airport instead of
having a friend drive me - more eco-friendly!
Tried spinach penne instead of the regular at FIGO pasta!

Studying with friends at the library instead of at my apartment.
I made more of an effort to attend a Tech men's basketball
game -- and it was a great one!
Drinking Dunkin' Donuts coffee instead of my
 usual Starbucks Blonde Roast.
Wearing different necklaces.
Green tea latte instead of my usual
White Chocolate Mocha/Blonde Roast.
My boss dropped this off at my desk - it's the popcorn
version of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. So interesting!
Eating at a vegetarian restaurant for the
 first time, *more details to come*
Studying outside on campus - so pretty!
Taking daytime photos of the skyline instead
of just nighttime ones - both are so great!
I went to NEW York :)
Did you do anything new or different this month? It's almost March and almost the weekend!! <3

Eating in ATL {La Tagliatella}

This post is a little late, because I went to this birthday dinner a few weeks ago - but it was my first time at La Tagliatella and I had to post about it. I think this restaurant is the perfect date spot or place to celebrate a special  occasion. It has a really authentic Italian menu, atmosphere and food selection.

We were celebrating our friend Can's birthday, and I think everyone enjoyed their food - and sharing everyone else's food too!

Birthday boy, Can!

 The restaurant allows you to mix and match, similar to Figo Pasta, but the choices are a little fancier. My combination was incredible! They also have a great selection of appetizers and desserts, yum!

Nicole's meal!

Dessert!
Trying everyone's food!
My meal!
