Relaxing in ATL {wired & fired}

Art therapy is real. Drawing, painting, and creating something is therapeutic for people of any age and helps release built up tension and emotions. And, it's wayyy cheaper than other types of therapy :)

Wired & Fired is a pottery studio where you can go (alone or with friends) and paint your own pottery! The studio is open every day and even has late hours so that you can stop by after classes and/or work. Their prices are affordable and they even offer a coupon on the site - fabulous! Pottery makes great and sentimental gifts and can be practical! I've painted pottery about 9 or 10 times and it always calms me down and slows me down. It's easy to get so busy and involved that we forget to sit back, relax, and paint something.

They're located in the West Midtown area (1000 Marietta Street, Suite 104), with free parking, a private party room, & glass fusing. Sounds like the perfect afternoon or evening hangout! Enjoy! <3

Why {Kait Poncsak} loves ATL

Electra Magazine Shoot - Lucian Bueno Photography - Linda Dupree MUA/Hair

Kait Poncsak

College student, Model

What's your favorite spot in Atlanta:

I really love Piedmont Park and Centennial Park, but whenever I'm in the city of Atlanta, I'm usually at the Atlanta Apparel Market modeling for designers like Argenti, Inc. After working there for six years, I've formed incredible relationships with people who work there and the Mart has become my home away from home!

 What's your favorite spot in Atlanta:

I have so many favorite places to eat in Atlanta! One that I recently visited is HD1 which is a "gourmet hot dog" restaurant. Waffle fries with maple syrup?! Don't knock it till you try it...it's YUM-O!
One of my very favorite restaurants in Atlanta is Two Urban Licks. It has a very modern, yet comfortable atmosphere and their menu changes daily so there is always a fun surprise if you're a food junkie like I've recently become! Last time I was there I had shark...it was delicious!

Kait, the model:

I've been modeling since I was 15 years old.
I'm not currently with an agency and get most
of my work through networking! I would love to
 move to New York after I finish my
undergrad for advertising experience and
also to do some part-time modeling.

Why do you love ATL:

The thing I love most about the city is the mix of people and the variety of food and nightlife. There's never a dull moment!

Celebrating {father's day}

I love holidays. Whether it's Christmas (my favorite), Valentine's Day, or Father's Day - holidays are a national reminder to celebrate our lives and the great people in our lives. Holidays can be difficult when you don't feel like there is someone to celebrate or something to celebrate, but I hope this post shows you that anyone can celebrate any holiday - yay, America!

Giving gifts is a fun part of holidays, but not always the most important part. If you're looking for a last minute Father's Day present, this site is great:
 http://www.gifts.com/ideas/fathers-day

Ways for everyone to celebrate Father's Day:

Photo I took a few years ago on Father's Day

1. Think of three great people in your life who have been there to support you, love you, lead you, or care for you. Isn't that what a father is supposed to do? Tell them how much you love and appreciate them! A short, yet meaningful message can go a long way and really make someone's day. And, it will make you feel better too!

2. Go out somewhere new - Sure, there will be some families eating out celebrating their fathers, and why shouldn't you be out too?! Try that restaurant you always pass by, but never stop at. Call up an old friend and experience a new place together. Holidays are the perfect time to make fun memories!

3. Get to know {him} better - If you're celebrating the day with your father, friend, family members, or husband; use this day to learn something new about him! Playing games, going for walks, asking random questions, sharing memories - just talk!

4. Have a party - Parties are a great way to brighten any day! Invite over your favorite people, cook your favorite foods, mix some drinks, and enjoy the company of the people you love!

5. Plant something & watch it grow - I know it sounds cheesy, but creating a life with a plant/flower/tree is a really special thing. I planted some plant seeds in my backyard a few years ago and have been watching them grow ever since. Plants, like people, represent how fast time goes by and how every moment of life is truly worth celebrating!

Happy Father's Day Weekend, everyone! <3

Why {Cameron Williams} loves ATL

Cameron Williams

College student, Music artist

Cameron at Georgia Tech

     What's your favorite spot in Atlanta:

I love hittin' up Atlantic Station, whether it's for a date or a trip to the movies with my frat brothers. The environment is perfect for enjoying life to the fullest, the restaurants are some of the best in Atlanta, and the regulations they have in place ensure that it'll stay on point for a long time to come. Definitely needs to be on your list if you're makin' a trip through the city, you won't regret it. One of a kind.

             Why do you love ATL:

I've moved very frequently as a military kid, so I usually don't get fixated on one place for long, but there's something special about this city. It's a mix of the people, the nightlife, the diversity, and my ridiculous experiences as a Georgia Tech student. As an artist, fulfilling my dreams is one night away, this city offers the opportunity to reach greatness. I can't see myself anywhere else at this point in my life, everything happens here. Don't miss it.

11 Reasons {Tech/ATL} is for you

I just stumbled upon this video showing why Georgia Tech is so great! It also highlights some great things about Atlanta as well...for all of you non-Tech fans :)

Why {Nicole} loves ATL

What's your favorite spot in Atlanta:

I am absolutely obsessed with the King of Pops stand located at 12th and Piedmont! Their delicious handmade pops are my favorite summer treat. There are so many unique flavors, such as Chocolate Sea salt and Pomegranate Margarita, that I can almost never decide which one I want! Its location is perfect because it is right across the street from Piedmont Park. Relaxing by the pond and walking along the walking trail with my popsicle is my idea of a perfect afternoon.

Why do you love ATL:

Every time I leave Atlanta, the one thing I miss the most are the people. The kindhearted, southern hospitality of the people I have met during my time in Atlanta has clearly changed who I am and inspired me to be more than just a Jersey girl. I love how welcomed I felt into a world so different from the one I was used to. I can definitely see myself living in this great city for the rest of my life!

Fashion in ATL {#thegoodslyfe show}

As much as I love fashion, I don't believe I've ever been to a real fashion show. Sure, I've seen the little five year olds prancing down a paper runway in the mall, just for fun. But I've never seen professional models strutting down the catwalk in real designs.

I am overjoyed to announce that next Saturday, June 23, I will be attending the Live Young For Ever (LYFE) #TheGoodsLYFE Summer Fashion Show! I'm attending the event with friends, who are equally as obsessed with fashion and Atlanta events, so it should be fantastic. LYFE is promising a great DJ, surprise performances, and free photo ops at the show - sounds like my kind of party.

It sounds like a fun way to start your Saturday night and a new experience if you're like me! Now I just have to find something to wear...

General admission tickets are only $10, and they're $7 for college students (reasons why I love being in college)

Location: Ambient Plus Studio, doors open at 7pm!

Why {Sheila} loves ATL

What's your favorite spot in Atlanta:

The Jezebel magazine office in the Terminus Building. It's on the 22nd floor with a lounge by Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, big glass windows and an amazing view. I definitely don't feel like I'm working when I'm here!

Why do you love ATL:

There is literally always something to do for any mood you're in! I feel like there's always something cool to do on the weekends or some new place to eat. It's like living in a mini NYC at a much cheaper price!

Eating in ATL {southern art}

Beautiful ceiling decorations - I want that chandelier!
When you're a college student with an iPhone, eating out with friends is usually determined by what restaurants have deals on Scoutmob. Last Friday night was no different. I had a fantastic dining experience (for a really great price) at Southern Art Restaurant and Bourbon Bar, located in Buckhead.

Bread, butter, and  spiced veggies that come before entrees!
The restaurant is actually located inside the InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta Hotel and parking in the hotel's parking deck is complimentary when you get it validated at the restaurant.

Sweet Potato Souffle
OK, now to the food. So good good. I wasn't super hungry so I just ordered a few sides. The portions are large enough for two people to share. I had the macaroni and cheese, green beans, and sweet potato soufflĂ© (request without nuts if you're allergic like I am), and they were all so savory. I would label their food style as a perfect mix of eclectic, urban, and southern. If you're a ham lover, this is the place for you - they have an entire ham bar! Seriously.

Macaroni & Cheese and Green Beans, served in mini-skillets!
The desserts also looked out of this world and I really wanted to try one, but I was too full! I earned a 25% off Scoutmob deal after eating there, so I will be going back!
Super cute salt & pepper shakers, haha

Enjoy! <3

Jewelry in ATL {gehati}

I'm pretty picky when it comes to the kind of jewelry that I like. And when I find something I like, I wear it all the time. Explains the earrings and pearls combo that I wear almost every day! However, every now and then I like to mix it up. Gehati is a unique Atlanta-based jewelry line created by a great young woman, Diamond Downs. Everything is handmade, affordable and simply fabulous. I've picked some of my favorites for men and women - they make great presents for friends...or for yourself :)
